New DT Box

I got my first box from the Scrapbook Island Design Team on Wednesday!  It was a great meeting all the new DT members and getting a chance to see the returners.  And to top it all off my first box was a DOZY!   It was chalk full of Little Yellow Bicycle's new Splash line and every matching embellishment!  I was so excited that I already made a double layout and have dreams of a brag book!  Check out the layout and be on the look out for more soon!

Feeling a little inspired!?!  There is a few days left to try out for the LYB DT!!!

Scrapbook Island DT

Crazy couple of weeks but fingers crossed to be back on track for one post a week!  This week two super fun things happened!

1) I got a chance to go to the Hambly factory sale and have a long chat with Mr. Hambley and one of my scrapbook besties! Loads of fun AND lots of great deals!!

2) Our amazing local scrapbook store announced their new Design Team and guess what !?! Yours truly is on it :)  And now I get to post some photos of my project.

This weekly projected uses simple stories Summer Fresh line.  I LOVE all the muted colors and how it matches with burlap.  I used a kraft photo box and lots of glossy accents!  The acrylic flower on top is made from a Hambly screen print (ironic!).  Making these flowers is easy, cut the screen print into a flower shape and then use your heat gun to get it all warm and toasty and then mold it into a beautiful flower.  Add a little ink on the edges, a button and hot glue it on!

I also threw in a few cards for good measure!

Graduation

It's the beginning of June and all the kids are itching to get out of school and the Graduation Parties are up and running.  Yesterday I had the privilege of attending a high school graduation for one of my former foster kids.  Somewhere between 40%- 50% of foster youth never graduate high school so this was a BIG accomplishment!  In order to celebrate I made a mini book to hold some of her great memories, I also got her a Pink Kitchen Aide because who doesn't need a Pink Kitchen Aide!

I used a Basically Bare  book and some school themed papers.  The inside paper is from Simple Stories, their Happy Day line.  I love the envelopes in the Basically Bare books, they are great for stuffing mementos like pictures and tickets.  She absolutely LOVED the book and I am sure will treasure it as she settles into her adoptive home!

Swamp Book

This week I had an EXTRA long weekend with both Friday and Monday off!  Lots of crafty projects done but for today I wanted to share a layered mini book.  I have a love/hate relationship with layered books.  I LOVE that if you get this just right they look amazing from every page, especially the cover.  But, I hate that feeling of running out of your paper line on your last layer!

Today's project was a LOVE and I was able to use all sorts of stuff from my stash.  I found the most perfect ribbon at my local scrapbook store that added an extra swampy feel!  The book captures the essence of the day, an amazing swamp tour with Honey Island Swamp Tours and friend time with my favortie Louisiana gal, Julie.  We saw a 15 foot alligator, it was HUGE and within arms length (note: I did NOT attempt to touch the gator!).  The back cover is me holing the tiniest little turtle, a great photo op.

Ruler Wreath

A crafty Sunday!  Today I finished up my Design Team project for Scrapbook Island (pictures after they announce) and made an awesome ruler wreath I saw on a great blog, The Polka Dot Chair.

Found the rulers at Affordable Treasures in Los Gatos and traded Ed a meatloaf to cut them all in half for me.   The bingo card is from the new Simple Stories Summer Fresh line and the flowers are out of my stash.  It needs a touch of ribbon so it can hang and then I will be dropping it off as a summer surprise to one of my favorite teachers!

First Blog!

After a weekend full of craftiness and craziness, I decided I needed a blog.  Why you ask?  I would love to say that I was just immensely inspired to share all my thoughts with the world but the truth is, everyone else seems to have one and I didn't want to be left out!

I am still deciding what I want my blog to be all about.  Do I make it strictly crafts or incorporate all my life into it, which could make for madness!  So we will see what unfolds as the days grow on.  But for today I am going to figure out how to post some pictures!!!
